Keys To Men Just Getting Into Style

#1. Start Slow

Understand there is a process to the sweet madness of personal style. It's pretty hard to go from basic Nike tee and sweatpants guy, to bespoke suit gentleman overnight. Improving your style doesn’t have to mean a complete wardrobe overhaul– throwing out everything you own and buying all new clothes like those makeover shows on TV. Slow your horses. If you don't take the time to understand, you could be setting yourself up for a nice slice of humble pie when your looking out of place.

There is a time and place for everything, meaning you don't have to wear a tux to dinner every night in order to "look nice." In time the wardrobe will get there. If you want to start wearing blazers more. Get a well constructed inexpensive sport coat, get it tailored. Dinner with friends or the misses? Throw it on every now and then!

#2. Never Pay Full Price

When you are just starting out you don't want to pay full retail for anything! Now sometimes you just can't help it, but make that a rare occasion when you can't wait on the sale or you just SERIOUSLY want it. Make sure there is purpose behind the purchase as well, "I might wear this" won't cut it!

Don't just buy something because it's on sale. A pair of $495 Mint Green Tod's 'City Gommino' Loafers for $225 is not really a sale if you can only wear them with one outfit. Get on your favorite stores' Loyalty Program as well. Cost per wear is a good way to make sure your purchase makes sense. Always check the sales racks and go to the outlets stores, you don't care that its a shirt from last season!

#3. Model Your Style, By Your Lifestyle

Model your style based on your lifestyle. There would be no reason for a construction worker to have 30 suits for work. (But maybe one nice one would be good.) Your personal style should revolve around how you live your life and do things. It should feel right, and boost your confidence about yourself. Go back to Donatello at the top, remember it all takes time.

We at Because Of Style are here to help you get the hang of it, and then branch out on your own!
